• Additive manufacturing and R&D facilities in Carlsbad and El Paso expand opportunities for biomedical innovation.

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Watershed Idea Foundry, a biomedical incubator and accelerator based in San Antonio, has opened its first additive manufacturing and R&D facilities. The Watershed Center of Excellence is in Carlsbad, California, with research and teaching activities housed within the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation on the campus of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

  • EL PASO, Texas – The University of Texas at El Paso and Watershed, an idea foundry created by Fountainhead Investment Partners, are announcing the completion of a public-private pilot class in the mechanical engineering department during the fall semester. In the ground-breaking class, 24 senior-level mechanical engineering students had the opportunity to learn from Watershed engineers and medical doctors. The students have created final projects focused on orthopedic designs that include general biomedical principles with broad applicability, and will present their work in the final class on December 8.
